- Title
"Médiacultures" et coming out des cultural studies en France.
- Authors
Maigret, Éric
- Abstract
The article focuses on mass culture in the media and the emergence of cultural studies in France. It notes that although contemporary cultural practices are connected to the media, they do not correspond to cultural separation ideologies which reject or devalue television and radio programs or reading comic books. Topics of discussion include the concept of mediacultures, the emergence of cultural studies in societies which considered themselves ideologically and politically multicultural such as Great Britain, the U.S., and Canada, and the resistance toward cultural studies in France as a result of national identity being centered on Republican universalism.
