- Abstract
The article discusses the development of anthropology in the Québec province of Canada, the Québec sovereignty movement, and the influences of anthropologist Rémi Savard. The author talks about how Savard was asked to write a government white paper about the cultural development of Indians living in Québec. Topics of discussion include the context in which the white paper evolved, the items in the text that were censured, and the historical meeting between 125 Indian chiefs and the Québec government at the Château Frontenac in Québec City, Québec on December 14, 1978.
