- Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus affects a great number of persons, and causes damage to almost every organ system. The degree of affectation depends on the duration and severity of this condition, as well as other comorbidities. Gastrointestinal implications may include esophageal dysmotility, gastroesophageal reflux disease, enteropathy, nonalcoholic liver disease, and gastrointestinal neoplasms. Optimal management of gastrointestinal complications is important for appropriate metabolic control and to ameliorate patients' life quality. This review is an update of gastrointestinal complications in patients with Diabetes Mellitus, in order to diagnose quickly and treat appropriately.
