- Authors
GADEKEN, OWEN
- Abstract
The article discusses the successful transition of defense acquisition programs to virtual work environments during the coronavirus pandemic. It emphasizes the importance of trust, conflict management, commitment, accountability, and focus on results in virtual program leadership. The author highlights the need for program leaders to build trust among team members, manage conflict constructively, achieve clarity and buy-in, promote accountability, and prioritize program outcomes. The article also suggests three tools that can aid virtual program leaders: 10-minute check-ins with team members, 30-minute coffee breaks for open discussion, and weekly "what's on my mind" emails to share the leader's perspective.
