- Abstract
This article explores the need for organizational change in military program offices, specifically focusing on the areas of innovation, speed, and agility. The authors provide seven concrete actions that can be taken to enhance these qualities, such as utilizing cross-functional teams and empowering those with knowledge. They draw on examples from successful organizations within the Department of Defense to illustrate these principles. The article also emphasizes the importance of middle managers in talent management and creating a culture that allows for small failures and learning from them. Additionally, involving the end user in the acquisition process and planning for uncertainty are highlighted as important strategies. Overall, the article stresses the need for cultural change and leadership to improve acquisition programs.
