- Abstract
The unavoidable ion Pb2+ in the pulp have a great impact on the flotation behavior of sphalerite. Therefore, it is important for the efficient separation of sphalerite and galena to understand the depression effect of sphalerite depressant on Pb2+ activated sphalerite. The influence of lead ion on the depressant performance of 1-hydroxyethylidene-l, 1-diphosphonic acid (HEDP) in the butyl sodium xanthate (SIBX) system was investigated, and the adsorption behavior of HEDP on the surface of Pb-activated sphalerite by Zeta potential, XPS and SEM analysis was explored. The results of single mineral flotation tests showed that HEDP can effectively depress the flotation of Pb-activated sphalerite in the pH range of 8 to 12, but it did not affect the flotation of galena. The test results of artificial mixed ore showed that, under the conditions of pulp pH = 9, HEDP concentration of 100 mg/L and SIBX concentration of 20 mg/L, the recovery of galena was as high as 89%, while the recovery of sphalerite was only 15%. The results of SEM analysis, Zeta potential and XPS analysis proved that HEDP could react with the product of Pb-activation Pb一OH and chemisorbed on Pb-activated sphalerite surface, the adsorption of HEDP on Pb-activated sphalerite impeded the adsorption of SIBX.
