- Abstract
Renal Supportive Care (RSC) is a concept that is applied in two categories of patients with end stage chronic kidney disease (ESRD) - patients receiving dialysis that have a high symptom burden and patients that are conservatively treated. RSC respects the principles of palliative care and includes nutrition, psychological counselling, symptomatic treatment, maintaining physical function and independence. We present the case of a 77 year-old man with ESRD whom we offered palliative care respecting his informed decision of refusing haemodialysis.
