- Abstract
β-Glycosidase with high transglycosylation activity was isolated and investigated for production of oligosaccharides. The optimal conditions for synthesis of oligosaccharides were determined to be: 40°C, pH 5.5,6520 IU of enzyme, 15% lactose, and 24 h incubation. Under these optimal conditions, 11% of disaccharides, 11.4% of trisaccharides and only 2.4% of tetrasaccharides were produced. HPLC analyses of the products indicated that the new disaccharide is galactosyl-β-1,6-galactose (the product and the standard used have retention times (Rt) 30.29 min and 30.57 min, respectively. Trisaccharides obtained were identified as galactosyl-β- 1,4-lactose. The product and the standard used have retention times (Rt) 40.72 min and 40.33 min, respectively.
