- Abstract
Cyclosporin A (CsA) is effective in some cutaneous immunologically-mediated disorders. It inhibits the induction and elicitation phases of allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) in mice. Similar results occur in guinea pigs, both with oral and topical CsA. To evaluate the influence of topical CsA on ACD, its effect on patch test reactions in 14 patients with ACD was studied. Similar studies have already been done with topical corti-costeroids and disodium-cromoglycate. Sensitization to at least 1 allergen had previously been demonstrated by standard patch testing. They had all been in clinical remission of ACD for at least 3 weeks.
