- Abstract
The article reports about a patient with severe exacerbations of allergic eczema due to oral use of a chromium containing drug named Pentackan Sinnabaun D4. It is prescribed for rhinitis, tonsillitis and conjunctivitis. The patient developed persistent severe reactions after oral consumption of 60 &b.mu;g dichromate per day for 4 months. However with much lower oral doses of chromium, positive provocation reactions were demonstrated. Oral administration of chromium caused severe exacerbation of the eczema. Sensitization to chromium is still a major cause of contact allergy in males.
