- Authors
Buchheister, Kelley; Jackson, Christa; Taylor, Cynthia E.
- Abstract
The article addresses mathematical reasoning by combining the use of a mathematical game and the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Topics covered include a demonstration of how the introduction of a game allows teachers to focus on mathematical content, reasoning and problem solving, tasks that have the potential to promote mathematical reasoning, and the three tenets of UDL used by a first grade teacher to promote reasoning and problem solving in students.
