- Title
Muscle volume and motor development in spastic cerebral palsy.
- Authors
SHORTLAND, ADAM P.
- Abstract
The author comments on a study which described the volumetric deficits in the medial gastrocnemii of young children with spastic cerebral palsy (CP), by Barber and colleagues, published within the issue. He say that the study is significant since it challenges the notion that the development of musculoskeletal deformity is linked with the older child. He cites the factors that hinder the routine assessment of muscle volumes. He also emphasizes the clinical importance of measuring muscle volume and motor development in children with spastic CP.
