- Abstract
The article reports that a simultaneous occurrence of a malignant ovarian dysgerminoma and of systemic lupus erythematosus is reported. The removal of the tumour resulted in a rapid disappearance of both clinical and biological symptoms of SLE. The possible relationship between tumours and autoimmune disorders is briefly discussed. Systemic lupus erythematosus is not a common condition and ovarian dysgerminoma is distinctly rare. While coincidence cannot be excluded, the occurrence of both conditions in the same patient suggests some relationship between the two diseases. It is well known that spontaneous remissions in the course of SLE may occur, but it is less common for the clinical and biological improvement to be so dramatic.
