- Abstract
This article evaluates the use of pentoxifylline (PTX) in the treatment of necrobiosis lipoidica (NL), a chronic granulomatous disease characterized by yellow-brown plaques with elevated violaceous rims on the anterior pretibial region. The study includes a retrospective case series of 10 patients who were treated with PTX. The results show that PTX was well-tolerated, but its effectiveness in treating NL was limited. While this study has limitations, such as a small sample size and non-standardized outcome measures, PTX may be considered as a treatment option for NL.
