- Abstract
This article, published in the Journal of Cancer, discusses the role of Aldo-keto reductase 1B10 (AKR1B10) in colorectal cancer. The study found that AKR1B10 may not be a prognostic factor but rather an etiological factor in colorectal tumorigenesis. The researchers investigated the expression of AKR1B10 in tumor tissues of 592 colorectal cancer patients and found that it was not correlated with overall survival or disease-free survival. However, AKR1B10 silencing in culture cells enhanced carbonyl-induced protein and DNA damage, suggesting that AKR1B10 downregulation may be a carcinogenic factor in colorectal cancer.
