- Abstract
The article presents a study which determines the possible causes of size differences in American Crow nestlings by comparing their urban and rural habitats. The study quantified the land use in known crow territories and identified three distinct environments including the suburban-residential, suburban-managed, and rural. It measured the near fledging age of nestlings in each environment and used for determination of unbound plasma calcium, total protein, and cortisone. The results revealed that rural nestlings are larger compared to suburban-residential crows and had higher total serum protein.
