- Abstract
The article focuses on a study related to measuring the spatial and temporal patterns of seed dispersal for 58 species of grasses in a grassland community in Marin County, California. The relationship between natural variation in seed rain and patterns of seedling recruitment after disturbance was examined by using seed traps. About 22,605 seedlings for the 12 most abundant grasses were identified in the study. It was found that competition among different types of grasses at the seedling stage is a major barrier to native species restoration.
