- Authors
Rinaldi, Alberto
- Abstract
The article discusses changes in Italian industry involving new business hierarchical structures and the emergence of so-called lead firms, which became organized entities that pursued growth and internationalization using modern marketing and distribution networks. Additionally such lead firms have often outsourced production, reorganized subcontracting, and invested in research and development. A case study is presented of one such firm, a company called Wam that by the start of the 21st century had become the world leader in dust filtration machinery and bulk materials handling and how its growth and internationalization strategies made that pre-eminence possible.
