- Abstract
Objective: To assess the efficacy of upper buccal sulcus approach for reduction of zygomatic complex fractures with the main emphasis on the post operative stability achieved and improvement in the functional and esthetic restoration. Materials and Methods: Thirty-one patients with minimally displaced zygomatic complex fractures were included in the study to evaluate the efficacy of upper buccal sulcus approach for the reduction of zygomatic complex fractures under local anesthesia. Evaluation was done for mouth opening, diplopia, infraorbital nerve paresthesia, step deformity of orbital rim and any noticeable depression over the arch once immediately postoperatively and then following at a period of one week, two weeks, four weeks and at the end of six weeks. Results: The results were drawn statistically, presented graphically and conclusions were made. Conclusion: To conclude, this technique should be considered as a simple and useful alternative along with the more complicated procedures and may be considered as initial and the only procedure required for most of the zygomatic complex fractures.
