- Abstract
The article presents a study investigating a potential link between adjuvant cortiscosteroids and reduced mortality in children with bacterial meningitis. The retrospective cohort study measured outcomes related to time to death and time to hospital discharge in children diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. The most common cause of meningitis in those studied was streptococcus pneumoniae. Researchers concluded that adjuvant cortiscosteroids administered to children did not reduce mortality regardless of age and were not associated with time to hospital discharge.
