- Title
Ketamine for Depression.
- Authors
Hampton, Tracy
- Abstract
This article presents a brief news item that reports that a single intravenous dose of ketamine can provide individuals with treatment-resistant depression symptomatic relief. Findings were reported from a randomized, placebo-controlled study by the U.S. National Institute of Mental Health. None of the patients in the study suffered adverse effects, however, this treatment is unlikely to become widely used since ketamine may cause hallucinations and euphoria.
