The article presents the author's views on the separation of powers among legislature, executive and judiciary in small jurisdictions like Guernsey, Channel Islands. Topics discussed include the history of legislating in the Channel Islands and development of its own customary law; the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights in the court case McGonnell v the United Kingdom; and efforts to establish a relationship among parliament, the executive and the judiciary in democracies.
