- Title
Tension on the Air: The Air Defense Identification Zones on the East China Sea.
- Authors
Jae Woon Lee
- Abstract
The article reports that the Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) declared by China over the waters off its eastern seaboard has triggered harsh debates between states around the East China Sea (ECS). It notes that the ADIZ has been established by Korea in 1951 and by Japan in 1969. However, it says that the newly declared Chinese ADIZ has raised the tension as the country declared the zone without any prior notice to the countries having major interest in the region.
