- Title
Early intervention in psychosis: evidence, evidence gaps, criticism, and confusion.
- Authors
Yung, Alison R
- Abstract
The article discusses early intervention (EI) in psychosis and analyses evidence, evidence gaps, criticism, and confusion related to it. EI can be effective if duration of untreated psychosis (DUP) is decreased. Specialized services of EI for first-episode psychosis (FEP) are superior to generic services. EI services are also criticized for disruption of continuity of care and considered as preventing psychotic disorder by treatment of nonpsychotic individuals.
