- Abstract
By using a copolymer of isobutylene and maleic anhydride (Isobam-104) as dispersant to prepare slurries of high solid loading, aluminum oxynitride (AlON) green bodies were fast formed by direct aqueous slip casting. Based on the experiments on solid loading and dispersant amount, the optimal sample pressureless sintered at 1880 ∘ C for 2.5 h showed the highest transmittance of 80.1%. The slurry drying time in mold was effectively reduced to only 2 h by increasing solid loading, which is more adaptive to fabricate complex-shaped and/or large-sized AlON components of high transparency.
