- Abstract
The article discusses research on end-stage renal disease as a consequence of bariatric surgery. It references a study by Deidra C. Crews of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, published in the August 22, 2008 issue of "NDT Plus." The researchers observed a woman suffering from obstructive sleep apnea, diabetes mellitus and morbid obesity. She sought bariatric surgery. They found that although rare, end-stage renal disease can be a consequence of newer surgery.
