- Title
Sarbanes-Oxley rules to be relaxed?
- Authors
Lawrence, Stacy
- Abstract
The article reports that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has heard the plea of small biotechs that are overwhelmed by Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) financial accounting compliance costs. In May 2006, the SEC has called for all public companies to comply with Section 404 of the SOX Act. However, the companies have found it hard to comply due to the high costs. Nonetheless, the commission intends to issue a more detailed guidance on the oversight of 404 to help the complying companies.
