- Abstract
The article discusses the origin of the word cool and how its original meaning changed over the passage of time and its diminishing popularity in usage. Accordingly, the word cool is an old English which was used by various artists and writers to refer to their excellent works of art such Shakespeare, saxophonists Lester Young and Louis Armstrong. The popularity of cool demised in 1980 and its referential connotation for works of arts was replaced by hip-hop style.
