- Abstract
The article highlights a study that focuses on the signals sent out by bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) and Wnt signaling pathways, which can be useful in the treatment of bone mass density modification. BMP signals are initiated by the activation of type I and type II serine-threonine kinase receptors and its osteogenic function has been proven to play a critical role in osteoblastogenesis. The study was able to conclude that there is an negative regulation in BMP receptor type IA of the endogenous bone mass, which can be mediated by SOST and DKK1.
