- Abstract
Objective: To identify and model the determinants of e-health readiness of end-users. Design and methodology: The empirical study, conducted in Turkey, first considers the factors affecting online application usage behavior in general, and then the health specific factors together with online application usage behavior affecting e-health readiness. The questionnaire is developed based on previous researches and theories as well as interviews with e-health experts and is modified according to a pilot study applied to ten end-users. It is administered to a total of 350 Internet users and a total of 324 usable data are collected. Data are analyzed using SPSS 18.0. Reliability analysis (Cronbach's alpha and item total correlation) is applied to test internal consistency of the questionnaire. Regression analysis is used to estimate the unique effect of different factors on e-health readiness of end-users. Results: The reliability of the questionnaire is high since all of the Cronbach's alpha values are greater than 0.7. The user group can be specified as young (82.1% of age less than 35) and frequent user of Internet (85.2%). Regression analysis results indicate that overall model is statistically significant. Online application usage behavior, attitudes about personal health data privacy and beliefs about health services determine e-health readiness whilst online application usage behavior is affected by the factors age, education level, internet usage and life attitudes. Conclusion: This study shows that the specified model can be used by managers of health services providers to improve their online services.
