- Authors
Hedberg, Anna Sofia
- Abstract
The article discusses the connection between wealth, poverty, and economic consumption in the Mennonite Old Colony of Durango, located in Eastern Bolivia, and attempts to illustrate how such issues relate to the maintenance of community in the community. It examines how people in Durango discuss the concepts of poverty, wealth, and how individuals rationalize the economic choices and circumstances of themselves and others. The author argues that that the constructed image of the past and future influence the reactions to consumption and material goods, in addition to poverty and wealth, among Old Colonists.
