- Title
Brethren and Old Church Relations in Pre-World War I Russia: Setting the Stage for Canada.
- Authors
Toews, John B.
- Abstract
The article discusses the relations of brethren and old church in the pre-World War I in Russia. In one sense, the dispute of the Mennonites society in the country during the 1860s reaffirms the continuity in the history of rather contentious people while the other regarded that it revived the buried religious values and challenged the emerging ideas and practices which are seen a something that must be kept sacred. The article also explores the indigenous factor which contributes to the widening gap between Mennonites in Russia.
