- Abstract
The article discusses the methodology for successful acquaponics system, which is a combination of aquaculture and hydroponics. Topics discussed include importance of nitrosomonas and nitrobacter bacteria for conversion of ammonia excreted by fish into nitrite and toxic substance into nitrates to be consumed by plants respectively; cultivation of Tilapia fishes as an ideal for a steady source of animal protein and discusses process for the nitrogen cycle.
