Examines the history of a pine false webworm (Hymenoptera: Pamphiliidae) outbreak in northern New York. Why this particular outbreak is unprecedented; White pine, Pinus strobus, as the preferred host in this region; Occurrence of A. erythrocephala in the United States has been documented in eight northeastern and one north-central state (Connecticutt, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Wisconsin) and three Canadian provinces (Alberta, Newfoundland, and Ontario); Possible explanations for the occurrence and tenure of this outbreak in New York.
