LEGAL SOURCES OF RESIDENTIAL LOCK-INS: WHY FRENCH HOUSEHOLDS MOVE HALF AS OFTEN AS U.S. HOUSEHOLDS.
- Authors
Ellickson, Robert C.
- Abstract
The article discusses the disparities between the U.S. and French regarding changing of residences during a year. It describes that a resident of the U.S. is twice more likely to move to a different home than a resident of France in a given year. It explains that this disparity is due to the different legal policies of both the countries especially, taxation statutes, landlord-tenant laws, and housing assistance programs.
