- Abstract
An essay on regional poetics of Southern poet John Gould Fletcher and Mexican American folklorist Américo Paredes is presented. It cites the significance of their works to Southern literature, critics' perception of Fletcher's regionalist poetry, Fletcher's affiliation with the Santa Fe poets and writers of the inter-war period, Fletcher's invocation of water in the poetry collection "XXIV Elegies" and the role of Europe in Fletcher's exploration of his regional identity and poetic style.
