- Title
Turning dishwashing waste into fuel.
- Abstract
The article reports on the plan regarding the establishment of a commercial biodiesel plant by Bio Solutions Manufacturing Inc. (BSLM) in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The liquid brown trap grease (LBTG) will be the feed for the commercial biodiesel plant. LBTG is a watery sludge recovered from dishwashing operations in restaurants. According to George McMahon, vice president for marketing, the plant will be designed to produce 1.5-5 million gallons per year of B100 biodiesel fuel. LBGT is a mixture of animal and vegetable grease and 80% water which will be hauled to wastewater treatment plants. McMahon also claims that LBTG will be put into a holding tank where food particles fall to the bottom and grease floats to the top.
