- Title
Cohesive Crack Model to Simulate Cyclic Response of Concrete and Masonry Structures.

- Abstract
A constitutive model has been developed to simulate the fracture behavior of quasi-brittle materials, such as concrete and masonry, under cyclic load reversals using a discrete crack approach. The model adopts a modified elasto-plastic formulation to simulate mixed-mode fracture, crack opening and closing, reversible shear dilatation, and joint compaction. An efficient and robust stress update algorithm has been developed to solve the nonlinear constitutive equations. The model has been implemented in a finite element program and validated by experimental data from material tests as well as structural subassembly tests conducted on reinforced concrete and unreinforced masonry structures.
