- Abstract
The article discusses paternal mental illness, citing the high prevalence rate shown in a national survey, of Australian men who had mental illness during the year. It underscores the impact of the assessment of high paternal psychopathology on the wellbeing of children, noting the poor child outcomes associated with the condition. It suggests that clinicians focus on the father-child relationship and address the fathering issue through parenting programs when providing support.
