- Abstract
In the present paper, the effect of mechanical properties of Al 5005 alloy are studied at different annealing temperatures and they are correlated with a range of key void parameters. The L/W ratio (the ratio of the length to the width) of the oblate or prolate voids at fracture is correlated with microstructure, minor strain at fracture ϵ2, Mohr's circle shear strains, stress, and strain triaxiality factors. The Lode factor θ is determined and correlated with the stress triaxiality factor T, which is the ratio of mean stress σ m to effective stress σ e. Void area fraction V a is determined and correlated with the strain triaxiality factor To. It is found that the sheets annealed at 500°C have higher n value and possess better formability compared to the other annealing temperatures.
