- Abstract
This essay explores Asian American literary history and depictions of transnationalism and racialization in the literature of author Sui Sin Far. The author reflects on how Sui Sin Far delineates the historical contours of Asian America and how her literary imagination tests social boundaries and sheds light on structural paradoxes within U.S. economic and political orders. Emphasis is given to the character of the Chinese merchant in the short story collection "Mrs. Spring Fragrance."
