- Title
Picturing the Empire in India: Illustrating Henty.
- Authors
Crane, Ralph; Fletcher, Lisa
- Abstract
The article presents an examination of illustrations found in several adventure fiction novels written by author G. A. Henty, all of which were set in India during the period of British occupation in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Particular focus is given to ways in which study related to the illustrations of late-Victorian fiction can inform literary historians of popular aspects of fiction. Books written by Henty that are discussed include "In Times of Peril," "With Clive in India," and "Rujub, the Juggler."
