- Abstract
The article presents an analysis on the preparation of English language teachers during the reconstruction and development of education system in the postapartheid society in South Africa. The author relates that the legacy of the apartheid education system and its affect on language teaching and learning are the backdrop to the country's 1997 policy initiatives. Educating teachers who have critical views as product of separatist ideologies either in school or in society to be an agent in achieving new and liberate ideologies of teaching and learning are the seen to be response of these issues.
