- Abstract
The article discusses the influence of Portuguese on Amazonian French Creole lexicon. Topics discussed include usage of French-lexified Creole language by three groups in the state of Amapá in Brazil, numbers of Amazonian French Creole (AFC) speakers, and the role played by adstrate language in the development of Creole lexicons. It also explores the origin of several Amazonian French Creole words.
