- Abstract
An essay is presented on the relationship of the film "Nang Nak," directed by Nonzee Nimibutr to sexual issues in Thailand during the late 1990s and 2000s. It offers the outline of the story and examines the role of the character Nang Nak. It discusses Buddhism, nationalism, and notions of desire and sexuality in Thailand as well as the portrayal of Nak as a figure of femininity. The horror-ghost film genre is also featured.
