The article focuses on contemporary practices of anime fandom (subculture composed of fans) related to media convergence, collaborative culture and collective intelligence in Brazil. It highlights the impact of Japanese audiovisual products in Brazilian media on an increased interest of Brazilian consumers in anime. It also reports on the participation of active and plural politics in fan communities through digital networks.
