- Abstract
The article presents a study which assesses whether the short-time exposure of young male rats to doses of Zineb or ethylenethiourea (ETU) is able to affect thyroid gland. Zineb belongs to ethylene-bis-dithiocarbamates (EBDC), a class of fungicides widely used in agriculture, while ETU is the result of the breakdown of Zineb. Results showed that the dietary administration of very small amounts of either Zineb or ETU for a minimum of five days elicits a slight, but significant changes in the function of the thyroid gland and other biochemical parameters in young male arts.
