- Abstract
The article "Thoughts on the concept of transnationalization and its application in empirical educational research" by Melanie David-Erb and Caroline Gröschner deals with the concept of transnationalization and its use in educational research. The article discusses various definitions and perspectives on the concept and raises the question of how researchers categorize individuals and organizations as "transnational" and what impact this can have. The text suggests using the term "transnational" as an analytical concept, but refraining from labeling individuals as transnational. An alternative approach is to differentiate between different qualities of transnationality and consider them as indicators of heterogeneity. It is suggested to take a differentiated look at transnational practices in order to define the concept of transnational more precisely.
