- Abstract
The article deals with the use of smartphone films in inclusive German lessons. It emphasizes that smartphones have a special significance as they combine the reception, production, and distribution of films technically and in terms of content. It is pointed out that audiovisual short formats such as smartphone films play a major role in the everyday lives of children and adolescents. The article also emphasizes the potential of smartphone films in inclusive German lessons and presents concepts that prove to be compatible with inclusive media education. It is pointed out that barriers can be reduced through technical enhancements such as audio descriptions, subtitles, and sign language. The increased distribution of smartphone films enables connections between images, texts, and films and promotes the transition from a fixed arrangement of meaning offerings to a procedural form of meaning generation. It is emphasized that in inclusive German lessons, spaces should be created in which students can develop and reflect on practices of liking and commenting on content. However, challenges such as the creation of digital communication spaces and data protection are also addressed.
