- Abstract
The article assesses the presence of gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT) in cell membranes in alcoholic liver diseases. The serum level of GGT is increased in patients of alcoholic liver diseases through a localization in the bile canaliculus, the Hering ducts and the small bile ducts in liver, which lead to a conclusion that compared with acetyldehyde, there is lack of glutathione. The method used in performing an assay of the serum level of GGT is described.
